About laser mole removal in Victoria.
Moles can appear anywhere on the body, and can vary in size, shape, and colour. For some, a mole is a welcome “beauty mark” but more often, these skin growths can distract from our comfort, our appearance, and even affect our self-esteem. Though often benign, many Victoria and Vancouver Island patients opt to have moles removed for cosmetic reasons. At Cosmedica, we offer a range of options for the removal of moles, including laser mole removal, complemented by comprehensive medical care. The Ultrapulse Encore CO2 laser, Starwalker laser and Enlighten laser systems are commonly used to treat moles and the choice depends on the type of mole.

How it works:
The first step is to establish that the moles in question are benign, and that laser mole removal is the ideal course of treatment. Laser mole removal works by targeting the mole with a carefully coordinated laser beam. The laser energy is absorbed, and the mole is immediately removed until it is flush with the skin. This recovery time will vary depending on the location of the mole, and individual healing.

Laser Mole Removal Frequently Asked Questions
A topical or local anesthetic is used for minimal to no discomort. Furthermore, treatments are quick.
Typically, laser mole removal can be achieved in a single treatment. The mole is immediately flattened and will subsequently heal.
The goal of laser mole removal is to minimize or completely remove unwanted moles. Expectations and outcomes will be carefully reviewed once the spot is properly diagnosed.
For the first 3-7 days following treatment, mild irritation, redness, and swelling can be expected as the treated lesion heals. The underlying skin will be slightly sensitive to sun and should be thoroughly protected afterwards. Moles on the face typically take 1-2 weeks to heal; moles on the body or limbs normally take 2-4 weeks to heal. After the initial healing, a gradual remodelling takes a few months.
We recommend protecting the underlying skin by applying an antioxidant serum in combination with a broad spectrum sunscreen every day. Additionally, avoiding the sun at peak times and wearing protective clothing is helpful.
