Scars & Stretch Marks

Benefits/How It Works

Benefits:
Many people experience scars and stretch marks at some point in their life and some people's skin tends to show these more easily than others. This may affect a person's self-image, which is why improvement in scars and stretch marks can make a big difference to a person's self-esteem. At Cosmedica, we have multiple lasers and other modalities to aid scar and stretch mark removal for Vancouver and Victoria patients, all of which are dermatologist directed. A full complement of technologies is used to optimize results.
If you would like to learn more about our scar and stretch mark treatment, please send us an email or call us at (250) 598-3300 or (877) 598-3380. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Mark Lupin understands the significance of patient safety and comfort. His practice is dedicated to providing high-quality cosmetic medical care for patients on Vancouver Island.
How It Works:

There are many potential components to scars including changes in texture and colour. The best time to treat a scar is within the first few weeks to months after the skin is injured. However, old scars can be improved as well. For textural improvement, options include resurfacing lasers such as Fraxel, infrared lasers, IPL light treatments, dermal fillers and radiofrequency skin tightening with Thermage®.  Red colour can be improved with one of our many blood vessel lasers and light systems. Grey gravel imbedded within scars and brown discoloration can be removed with one of our pigment-specific lasers.

Stretch mark removal in Vancouver works with blood vessel type lasers to reduce the redness and with Fraxel laser for improvement of the texture and white colour. Normally, downtime is minimal for these procedures; multiple sessions are commonly needed to achieve optimal results.
