Fraxel™ re:store DUAL

Benefits/How It Works

Benefits:
For men and women in British Columbia, skin rejuvenation can be accomplished with innovative Fraxel re:store™ Dual. This treatment uses a dual wavelength laser to treat a variety of skin conditions anywhere on the body.
Fraxel treatments allow for mild to moderate skin resurfacing of the face, neck, chest and hands.  The re:store laser treats sun damage, wrinkles, scars, age spots and melasma (a patchy brown discoloration of the face).
If you are considering Fraxel re:store Dual in Victoria, BC, send us an email or call us at (250) 598-3300 or (877) 598-3380. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Mark Lupin understands the significance of patient safety and comfort. His practice is dedicated to providing high-quality cosmetic medical care for patients on Vancouver Island.
How It Works:
Fraxel re:store Dual applies microscopic pixels of infrared laser light to the skin, penetrating deep into the collagen layer while leaving the skin's surface intact. Unwanted pigment is removed and uneven texture of the skin is improved while new collagen is formed.
The treatment (which generally takes 30 to 40 minutes) can be tailored to your needs because the energy level, treatment level and number of passes are selected by your doctor. An air cooler and topical anesthetic and/or oral analgesic ensure that treatment is comfortable, although patients do report a heating sensation as the laser glides over the skin.
Patients in Victoria who choose Fraxel laser treatment can expect to see some redness and minor swelling for several days. However, normal activities can be resumed shortly afterward.  A minimum of 3 to 4 sessions is generally required, spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. Results are visible after the first few sessions and can be maintained with 1 to 2 sessions a year.
For more dramatic results, patients may want to consider Fraxel re:pair®.  Dr. Lupin can discuss your options for skin rejuvenation and help select the procedure that best meets your needs.

Treatment/FAQ

Ideal For:

Those with aged and sun damaged skin, acne scars and traumatic scars, stretch marks and melasma.  The face, neck, chest, hands and forearms can all be treated.

How It Feels:

The skin is cooled with the Zimmer Cryo-5 air cooler and a topical anesthetic cream is applied. Oral analgesics are used.  The laser gives a heat sensation as it glides over the skin.  This quickly dissipates once the treatment is finished.

Downtime:

Fraxel re:store results in redness for 2-3 days followed by a bronzy pinkness for up to a week.  Minor swelling for 2-4 days. Most individuals resume normal activities shortly after each treatment.  The more assertive Fraxel re:pair has true downtime of approximately 5 days.

Treatment Time:

30-40 minutes average for full face.

Frequency:

Fraxel re:store requires a minimum of 4 sessions, normally 2-4 weeks apart. Scars generally benefit from 6-8 or more sessions. Results can be seen after the first few sessions. Maintenance with 1-2 sessions per year may benefit some.  Fraxel re:pair is intended as a single treatment although suitable candidates may benefit from additional treatments.
