Conditions we treat

Rosacea

Best defined as persistent redness of the central face that varies in degree, rosacea is seen in many skin types and often in those with a Celtic background and fair skin. It is a chronic inflammatory condition that will sometimes present with small pimples within the red areas, as well as dilated spider veins that are common on the cheeks, chin and nose.

The Excel V laser is a star player in treatment that it can get rid of the majority of prominent visible spider veins with only 1-2 rosacea treatments. IPL phototherapy is helpful to further reduce the background redness and as a maintenance treatment. Skin care treatment is essential for longterm management and includes a gentle cleanser, optimized sun protection and a bland moisturizer.

For inflamed pimples, medical rosacea treatments include prescription topical anti-inflammatories such as metronidazole and systemic treatments may be helpful such as very low dose doxycycline, a dose that does not affect your body’s normal flora.
