Brown & Red Spots
Melasma, commonly known as the "mask of pregnancy," can develop even in individuals who have never been pregnant. It is a relatively common condition that presents as a brown patchy pigmentation on areas of the face such as the cheeks, upper lip, nose and forehead. Management of this condition includes sun protection with broad spectrum sunscreen and lightening creams. SilkPeel™ microdermabrasion can be helpful for surface brown spots. The Fraxel re:store™ DUAL laser, FDA-approved for treatment of melasma, may be a good option after trying these simpler measures.

Small red spots on the face or body, along with brown sun freckles in sun exposed areas, can be treated quickly and efficiently at our practice with a range of skincare options. If there are multiple brown freckle-type spots on the face, the entire face, neck, chest or arms can be treated with the Fraxel re:store DUAL laser, or spots can be treated individually with one of our Q-switched lasers. If there is a combination of red and brown spots, photorejuvenation may be a good choice, as it treats both colours together. If there are just individual red spots, flat or raised, these can be treated with one of our many lasers used to remove blood vessels.
